PURPOSE = To STALK: To pursue quarry or prey stealthily
Why Ron spent decades perfecting the
RON HART'S RIVER STALKER
Wading staff
Trying a few versions of staffs made from aluminum tubing, Ron determined that between the unnatural noise, the tips coming off and getting lost, and the harmonic wobbling in fast current, metal was not for him. Collapsible staffs had a weakness: if while wading, the tip gets stuck between rocks, the staff could pull apart leaving you struggling. He found the word collapsible to be ironic in referencing a staff.
Being a woodworker, he crafted a wooden staff and began testing and researching components that would withstand the rigors of life in and out of the river. American hickory turned out to be both sturdy and resilient, textured rubber lasted and stayed tacky when wet, a stretch cord lanyard with a simple soft plastic clip kept it securely attached against loss, a soft plastic sleeve on the bottom end kept the wood from splitting while allowing it to dry after use and it never fell off. The result was the Ron Hart's River Stalker.
Elegant in its simplicity
Gently lift out of the way!
WHAT MAKES THE STALKER SPECIAL
ALWAYS: Be careful wading, make it fun.
PROVEN
Decades of proven results in the field by professionals and avid fishers.
SILENT
Won’t click like metal or carbon staffs that spook trout.
As tough as industrial aluminum, with warm natural flex.
Strong premium American hickory that tests as strong as construction-grade aluminum used in aerospace.
Metal can bend, and carbon fiber can chip, crack, and shatter.
Tacky, textured grip you can trust with wet or cold hands.
Lanyard's strong stretch cord is just the right length to remain handy yet out of the way.
Fastener is simple, of heavy-duty, soft plastic which will never break. One easy click and it's fastened securely to your wading belt.
ONE-PIECE CONFIDENCE
Won't collapse – one piece, solid, not like folding staffs that can pull apart, leaving you stranded in treacherous water.
Rapid flow wading – feel safer with stalking that trophy fish.

Ready to help your recovery.
Lanyard's controlled elasticity keeps it handy, yet out of the way.
Hickory floats – no heavy metal dragging on rocks behind you.
Lightweight in your hand, 1 lb 4 oz
Proven results in the field by professionals and avid fishers, over decades.
Point is wrapped in a soft plastic sleeve that prevents hickory from splitting and is silent on rocks.
Finish is a waterproof, durable varnish.
On the trail, clear away spider webs blocking your path.
Rattlesnake Tosser – out of the way with a lift and flick of the trusty Stalker.
Poison Oak Whacker – strike the stem at the base, it’s brittle and breaks easily.
Critter Defender – poke an eye and thump the noses of cougars and bears (their sensitive spot).
Human Deterrent – visible and silent warning to irate and irrational behaviors encountered on the water.
Wilderness hiking support – on narrow trails, over and between rugged boulders.
Bush-whacking – smash away obstructing limbs and hold aside obstacles.
Carry over-the-shoulder thanks to the precise-lenght lanyard – ideal when hands-free mode is desired.
Reach limbs to get tangled flies.
Test before your step! It's deeper than you think!
Is that quicksand under those leaves you are about to step onto?
Is a rattlesnake lurking on the other side of the fallen tree or rock over which you are about to step over?
“No-fear-wading” – "Get over there” – cover more water = more fish per hour.
Fish in deeper water where more fish hang out.
Access the hangout of that trophy fish of your dreams.
Less fatigue fighting current = more hours enjoyed per day.
It's a third hand to use to steady your client: plant the Stalker, the client holds your wrist, and move forward without a fall (both of you).
Get one for your clients to use who will be forever thankful.
Clip to your waist belt or available D-ring.
Hike to your favorite water.
Wade to that perfect spot.
